Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle yet powerful treatment that offers an opportunity for the body to recognise and release deeply held areas of tension and contraction that the body has absorbed through life's knocks and shocks, stresses, and strains. Often these patterns of contraction become so embedded we become unconscious of them yet we keep getting repetitive aches, discomfort, and unease physically, emotionally, and in our general well-being.
Craniosacral Therapy uses light touch to listen to the bodies stories and the subtle movement of the tissues from cerebral spinal fluid through the membranes and fascia down to the bones.
As the whole body/mind system is held by the practitioner in a safe and comfortable manner, you are in control at all times. The body is invited to relax into a sense of primary flow and connect with underlying forces of health. This allows the whole body/mind system an opportunity to release, restore and integrate into healthy function.
Who is it for?
Craniosacral therapy is suitable for people of all ages from babies to the elderly. Some of the conditions it can help in the relief of include:
Stress-related conditions such as anxiety, insomnia, and exhaustion
Recovery from accidents, injuries, and general aches and pains
Post-traumatic stress disorder
And many more
What happens during a session?
After an initial health questionnaire to asses your requirements you would lie or occasionally sit on a treatment couch always fully clothed and I would hold the body with gentle contact. At times during the session we may talk about what is happening during the treatment but also a session may not involve any talking until the end.
Follow-up sessions are dependent on the individual and the condition being treated.
